Every colour in our range comes from the clay and the firing. Iron oxide in the clay turns red as it heats. A hotter or longer firing pushes it darker, towards brown. Because the colour runs right through the tile, it does not peel, chip off or need repainting.
How the four brick cladding colours compare
Terracotta
Light orange-red, warm and bright. Terracotta looks good with white plaster and light wood, and it suits houses that get strong afternoon sun because it does not look heavy. Our Classic Terracotta Smooth comes in 9×3 and 9×2.
Red
The classic red brick colour that most people picture. It is the safest choice for a full elevation. Pair it with white or cream window bands. Available in smooth, texture, aged and linen finishes.
Brown
Brown tiles are fired darker. They hide dust and rain marks better than lighter colours, which makes them a good choice for boundary walls, gate pillars and highway-facing fronts. Deep Brown Smooth and Vertical Brown Texture are the darkest tiles we make.
Dual tone
Dual tone mixes lighter and darker reds in one batch. Laid together, the wall looks natural and varied, like an old brick wall. It is a favourite for restaurant and hotel interiors.
Three things that change how a colour looks
- Light. North light makes clay look cooler. Warm LED track lights make it glow. Check your sample in the actual room.
- Grout. Light grey grout makes the brick pop. Dark grout makes the wall look more even and modern.
- Texture. A textured face catches shadow, so the same red looks a shade darker than on a smooth tile.
