"What is the rate per square foot?" is the first question we get on WhatsApp. The honest answer is that it depends on five things. Once you know them, you can compare quotes from different suppliers on equal terms.
Five things that decide brick cladding price
1. Tile size
A 9×3 inch tile covers more wall than a 9×1.5 inch tile, so you need fewer pieces per square foot. Slim tiles usually cost more per square foot in both material and labour. See the size guide for coverage notes.
2. Finish
Smooth tiles are machine pressed. Textured tiles have a linen, rough or aged face. Handmade tiles are moulded by hand and are thicker, so they use more clay. Price usually rises in that order.
3. Quantity
We quote slab rates. A 2,000 sq ft elevation gets a better rate than a 100 sq ft TV wall. Builders who order for several towers at once get the best rate.
4. Freight
Clay is heavy. Freight from our factory in Kakkar Majra, Ambala to Chandigarh or Panchkula costs less than to Gurugram or Noida. Always ask whether a quote includes delivery to site.
5. Installation materials and labour
The tile price is only part of the job. Add tile adhesive, grout, a sealer for exterior walls, and the tiler's charge. Labour depends on your city and on how many courses the tile size needs.
How to compare two quotes
- Check that both quotes are for the same size and thickness (20 mm vs 12 mm makes a big difference).
- Check whether the tile is kiln-fired clay or a cement or concrete imitation.
- Ask if freight and unloading are included.
- Ask for a physical sample. Colour on a phone screen is never accurate.
Why cladding instead of full face bricks?
A full face brick wall needs new masonry and a strong foundation. Cladding is 20 mm thick and goes on an existing plastered wall, so you skip the structural work. For renovations it is almost always the cheaper way to get an exposed brick look.
